I’ll get right to the point.
My motivation to write on the blog is at a low point. I have very few ideas to write upon and my interests are currently elsewhere. To add to this, my interest in anime is also at a low point, the subject my blog is mostly dedicated to. With this point, I want to bring something to light.
Based on my blog’s history, anime/manga-related posts tend to attract the most visitors. Because of this, I tend to think of the audience that I have as those who are most interested in anime/manga-related content, so I wanted to kill two birds with one stone by appealing to them while also appealing to my own interests.
Recently, even anime/manga-related content has done little to quell the slow decline of traffic surrounding the blog. I attribute part of this to my infrequent posting, but I fear I may also be becoming too one-dimensional in my writing style and focus. Whatever the case, fewer people are reading my posts—even ones I feel should be more popular—and it’s very discouraging.
With time pondering upon the issue, as well as conversing with trusted friends, I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter. In the beginning, no one read my posts, yet I kept blogging. Why should statistics matter to me now? More than simple numbers, I also decided that the content of my blog shouldn’t matter, either. I’ve tried to stick to anime/manga-related content for a long time, as I felt that’s what my audience desired, commonly referring to myself as an aniblogger. In reality, that’s just one interest I have, and not even one I would consider the strongest.
I don’t know what the future will hold. The Visualist’s Veranda may sit inactive for however long my complacent mood persists. Should inspiration strike, however, I’ll write on it—no matter the topic. That’s how I plan to use the blog from now on: by writing on whatever topic I want, without any set schedule. One may see something from me tomorrow or next year. I really couldn’t say.
This is not a last will and testament by any means, though it kind of feels like one to me, knowing how this blog used to be and how I used to approach it. Whatever the future holds, I hope you, the reader, will be a part of it. Thanks for reading.
Until whenever!
Well, whenever you do decide to post, I’ll be looking forward to it!
Thank you, Krystallina!
It is a shame you feel you have lost motivation and I hope that you feel inspired in the future, even if it isn’t toward anime/manga related content. Whichever way, I will look forward to whatever you post in the future as I have always enjoyed reading your posts. Best of luck with whatever you choose to do in the future.
Thank you, Karandi!
I simple applaud your decision. Of COURSE you should write what YOU want! This is YOUR blog! YOU are the boss! More power to you! 🙂
That’s too bad, I understand the lack of motivation mind you but I certainly don’t find your writing one dimensional. I do hope you find something else to strike your interest soon
😞
I’m glad that you’re embracing your leading instinct and going with what you really want to do for the blog. Even if it does not lead to pay or glory, it is the better path. The doing is what matters, and what the doing entails should matter to you.
Through difficulties to greatness!
Godspeed.
