Top 10 Highest Quality SiIvaGunner Rips (2021 Edition)

I have decided to bring back commentary this year. That’s what you all come here for, right?

SiIvaGunner is a parody account of noteworthy video game track uploader GilvaSunner. Multiple times a day (in infrequent periods), they will upload tracks that take the entirety or a portion of a (usually) game soundtrack and edit it in a way that makes it a joke. Should you need any examples, feel free to look at my 201720182019, and 2020 lists. What will be making my list will be the “highest quality” tracks, those that I can listen to unironically as music that makes me swoon, joke or not.

Please note by the big parentheses in the title of this post that this is an annual thing that occurs on this blog that shouldn’t be construed as a be-all, end-all list of the best rips to ever grace SiIvaGunner. This is just my own opinion, and if you disagree, you should make your own list, credit me with inspiring you, and tell me I’m wrong.

10. Respect To “RESULT THEME OF F-ZERO” (Staff Roll) – F-Zero GX

This is one of three rips on this year’s list that I’m genuinely shocked never made it until now. With so many different rips of such high quality, it’s easy to lose track of certain ones, even if they stand out. Or maybe it’s the fact that this rip doesn’t stand out much at all.

This track is quite groovy. It’s not energizing or high-octane; an almost lo-fi vibe radiates from it, despite the heavy cuts and rapid beats. A slow head bob is generally what accompanies my listening to this. Discovering this years ago, it’s one of the few F-Zero GX rips from the channel I adore. Something about it just pops to me. And given its overall view count, I’m in the minority. Still pretty groovy.

9. Once Upon a Time (Genocide Mix) – Undertale

Do y’all like pop music from the late 2000’s? If so, this track may seem vaguely familiar. Or maybe you’re really, really into Lady Gaga and will recognize it within seconds. Like I did. Except I’m not really into Lady Gaga. Her old stuff, though? Pretty nice.

To be frank, I don’t recall what the original track is. All I know is that the song is being covered using the specific track’s sound font, which sounds marvelous. Strangely appropriate, too. What may be the best part of this track is that it sounds like it could be real. Such a bad romance can only be appropriate for a game as romantic as Undertale.

8. Savannah Symphony (Stickerbush Symphony Returns) – Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

There’s a considerable amount of people who believe Stickerbrush Symphony from Donkey Kong Country 2 is the greatest music track spanning the entire franchise. I am not one of those people, but when a track is so popular that people are willing to remix it into oblivion, sometimes great things happen. This is one such example.

Some SiIvaGunner connoisseurs will find this track rather dull, given its meme potential is rather insignificant. For me, if it sounds good, it sounds good. It could be the spiciest of memes or an appetizer precluding the spice. Stickerbrush Symphony is one of those tracks that, while I don’t believe is perfect, has a wonderful quality that favors variation. Like an evergreen sound, it sounds good with basically anything.

7. Pumpkin Hill (US Version) – Sonic Adventure 2

Doesn’t it seem like a Sonic Adventure 2: Battle track appears on this list every year?

I do not know what Hamilton is. I do not care to know what Hamilton is. Yet it is because of Hamilton that this track was born, and for that, I am thankful to it. Who would have thought that a recent musical phenomenon featuring a former U.S. figure would go so well with stage music dedicated to a giant, convoluted pumpkin patch?

A pure definition of a “bop.” Gets me going and has me swinging around in my chair every time I listen to it. Considering I like this so much, wouldn’t it be fair to assume that Hamilton would do the same? Maybe, but I’m a hipster and I refuse to indulge in popular things. It’s a curse.

6. Prologue (Phase 5 Sunny) – Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Listening to this for the first time, I liked it. Second listen, I liked it more. Third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth listen, I was starting to get the impression that I really dug it.

Truth be told though, I really don’t like the lyrics to the song inserted. They are so over-the-top cheesy that a part of me cringes every time I started mouthing along to the lyrics. Romance is too powerful, even if the lyrics do not embody my spirit whatsoever.

I also just really like the soundtrack to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Simple, chill, and deceptively catchy. In combination with this dumb track, it has a chill, romantic, and deceptively catchy vibe anew. Pretty good.

5. Snowman – Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Another rip I’m shocked didn’t make any list thus far, Snowman on its own is very good. I love the hypnotic, almost mysterious vibe that it provides. Almost like skating along a rainbow path of music notes. You’re welcome to hate me for typing that out seriously; I almost hate myself

But this additional lyrical track? It fits soooo, sooooooooooooooooo well. If the original track was magical, this addition makes it sublime. Almost as though it goes from my previous vomit-worthy description to a sort of moody journey of self-discovery. It’s lovely and enrapturing. I think I might be really emo.

4. Bramble Blast – Super Smash Bros. Brawl

The final track that fits the moniker of “Why wasn’t this on a list yet?” This is a classic. 540k views since its upload date, it’s one of the channel’s most popular rips of all time, and for fantastic reason. A situation in which the base track and the added track fit so well that it enhances both tracks simultaneously.

Close your eyes after you read this paragraph. Imagine to yourself Diddy Kong, as expressive and jumpy as he is, singing along with the lyrics as he freely swings from the vines of the jungle. Think of him dancing along to the voluptuous rhythm of the beat. Then open your eyes; what has changed? Nothing. Only that you can now say that you imagined it.

3. 7AM – Animal Crossing: New Horizons

BWEU-WOM, BWEU~BOM

BWEU-BWEU-BWEU-BWEU~BOMPH

2. MEGALOVANIA (Unused Mix) – Super Smash Bros. UItimate

Fun fact: Megalovania is a bop.

Fun fact: Lifelight is a bop.

Fun fact: Sans is in Super Smash Bros.

Another example of two things mashed together to make something pure and beautiful, devoid of all sin. As much as I like the groovy tracks, something about the big, anthemic tracks that just make me wanna punch Satan in the face really do it for me. Megalovania is one of the “hypest” tracks of the last decade of gaming, and combined with one of the “hypest” franchises Nintendo has in its archives, it’s genuine poetry. Just listen.

1. Back 2 Back (Beta Mix) – Sonic Rush

When I originally drafted this post, this track was not present on my list. Letting YouTube randomly recommend videos to me while listening to SiIvaGunner, I saw this once again. And it dawned on me: “Oh, my GOD. How could I leave off this???”

I’m listening to it while I type this, and I can feel myself slowly going insane. My typing is increasing in speed. I may just make a typo and leeve it. One of my favorite tracks from Deltarune, combined with a pretty nifty track from Sonic Rush, which I have never played before. Nevertheless, they blend together absolutely beautifully.

Fast, frantic, incredibly bouncy, chaotic; I want this track to be played as loud as my old ears can take it and let my body disintegrate under the boiling sun. I want my bones to rattle and my fat to fly. I want my brain to enable me to bend the body to whims inhumanly possible. It makes me feel absolutely invincible.

It’s fine.

(Note: A few Mario rips were originally intended to be on this list. However, due to Nintendo deciding to pull Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Bros. 35 from circulation after March 31st, the channel privated all Mario-related rips as a joke. Therefore, I cannot link to them for the purposes of this article. Too bad for them, I guess.)

Any other SiIvaGunner rips you would’ve suggested? Is my taste not actually high quality? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments and I will choose whether or not to ignore them!

Thank you for your time. Have a great day.
