And so, the final day of the 2019 March of the Movies block comes to a close. It was a good run this year. While I certainly could’ve improved on my time management and depth of reviews, I feel I watched a lot of enjoyable and insightful films this month. To cap it all off, I decided to see something that has been collectively crowned as the greatest superhero-based film ever in the history of time. If you think this sounds exaggerative, why don’t you check its Letterboxd page real quick and get back to me. It should only take a few moments of your time. Day Thirty: At Eternity’s Gate (MotM 2019)
I will write this piece faster than Vincent Van Gogh painted masterpieces. Continue reading “Day Thirty: At Eternity’s Gate (MotM 2019)”
Day Twenty-Nine: Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (MotM 2019)
I recently ordered this t-shirt from TeePublic, and I gotta say, it reinvigorated some desire to delve back into the cheesy goodness that is the Godzilla franchise. Bonkers as it may be, I always find myself enjoying the theatrics in a way that’s rare from any film franchise. Continue reading “Day Twenty-Nine: Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (MotM 2019)”
Day Twenty-Eight: Tonari no Yamada-kun (MotM 2019)
My computer’s a real pickle. A wrung-out, unsatisfying pickle. Continue reading “Day Twenty-Eight: Tonari no Yamada-kun (MotM 2019)”
Day Twenty-Seven: When We Were Kings (MotM 2019)
Cinderella Man is among my favorite films, at least I believe so. One of the major proponents of that film is the sport of boxing, which, while irrefutably violent, has some beauty surrounding it. When We Were Kings was something of a back-up plan today, as the original film was much longer and I ended up watching it fairly late. Thus, I thought to myself, “Why not kick back and watch something on a boxing legend?” Continue reading “Day Twenty-Seven: When We Were Kings (MotM 2019)”
Day Twenty-Six: Moon (MotM 2019)
Apparently Duncan Jones used to be somebody starting off. Now he’s kind of a joke after two-straight stinkers. This begs the question: Was he ever actually good? Continue reading “Day Twenty-Six: Moon (MotM 2019)”
Day Twenty-Five: Shaun of the Dead (MotM 2019)
Man, oh man, what a day it’s been for me today. Continue reading “Day Twenty-Five: Shaun of the Dead (MotM 2019)”
Day Twenty-Four: Polytechnique (MotM 2019)
I won’t say much. Not because I don’t have time or I don’t have the motivation to. This is a film that should be experienced firsthand, as should most of Villeneuve’s work. Continue reading “Day Twenty-Four: Polytechnique (MotM 2019)”
Day Twenty-Three: Midnight in Paris (MotM 2019)
The single-biggest “Wow” to grace this screen is the fact that I can take Owen Wilson seriously in a non-comical lead role. Continue reading “Day Twenty-Three: Midnight in Paris (MotM 2019)”
Day Twenty-Two: The Star Wars Holiday Special (MotM 2019)
Oh me, oh my. Why did this take so long? Continue reading “Day Twenty-Two: The Star Wars Holiday Special (MotM 2019)”
